Both An Athiest and a Hypocrite
"The fool has said in his heart that there is no God." - Psalm 14:1
One of the best selling books today is The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, Professor of Science at Oxford University. If there's any way to describe Richard Dawkins, it is this: He is an evangelist for atheism!
One thing that really fascinates me about Dawkins' book is his deep hostility towards religion. He really believes that religion is an evil influence on mankind. While he includes many examples of Christian misdeeds, he is quite silent on the subject of the evil springing from the atheistic philosophies in the 20th century. There's no mention of men like Mao, Stalin, and Pol Pot. Nothing about the leadership of North Korea or any of the other people who have embraced atheistic philosophies and murdered mega-millions of their own citizens. Where's the condemnation of that?
The Bible is clear that "a fool says in his heart there is no God." When that person begins to embrace a man-made cause, a man-invented ideology, and in the process, do what is right in his own eyes, he begins to justify abominable and evil things.

While I agree that there have been atrocities committed by those who claim to be "Christian", they are not true Christians. What the unbeliver needs to remember that not every one who says he is a Christian is truly a Christian. - jag
Also we need to consider that when the scriptures were translated into the English language there was italics placed in the scriptures to help us in the translation. In this particular scripture the words "There is" are in italics so we can also say that "The fool hath said in his heart, no God. We are still correct when we consider it this way. A person has got to be a fool to say no to God. He have got so much to offer us if we would just follow him. Salvation and eternity in heaven is certainly worth giving up the world for. God bless everyone and have a good day. - Jerry
Dawkins is at "war with God". It's what defines him. Unfortunately, his army is legion. To ascribe evil to Christianity is a cop-out. It's a tired argument. Evil has been done under many banners throughout history. True followers of Christ have accomplished more good in the world than can be counted. Each of us represents Christ each day in what we DO, not just what we profess. Stay the course. The way is narrow, but the promise is great. Godspeed. - Grant
How sad it is to watch people devote their life to the belief that there is no God. Some people embrace the lifelong challenge of making a difference. Some seek overtly evil ways like Pol Pot, Stalin & Mao, some, however, despite the evidence of the next heartbeat not promised, benignly espouse philosophies that give cover to the overtly evil.
Thank God for those who have purpose driven lives that, along with nature, biblical evidence, and all the other historical data, provide evidence by their lives that God is real!
If it's not clear to folks now. It'll become clear later. - Don
People need to quit looking at other Christians & what they're doing & instead look toward the Lord. - Christ Follower
It seems like kind of a cop-out to say that past Christian misdeeds weren't perpetrated by Christians. That is insinuating that once you are a Christian you stop doing evil things. Simply not true. I think a more accurate statement is that the Christians responsible for those misdeeds were clearly acting contrary to the teachings of Christ. And we all do that...and we all still call ourselves Christians. - Austin
Richard Dawkins is a fool. The Bible tells me so. Psalms 14:1 - Hal
If you watch the movie documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed by Ben Stein, you will see a scene in the film where Ben Stein, who also narrates the film, ask Richard Dawkins in an interview where he thinks life began (since Richard believes that we Christians are idiots to suggest that God created life on Earth), and Richard will have no clue whatsoever how to explain that one. He stalls and tries to justify himself instead. Ironic, isn't it? - Joann
