Power
"Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth." - Matthew 5:5
Do you have it? Do you want it? What are you willing to do to get it?
The misuse of power is a constant reality. People have a tendency to sacrifice anything or anyone to attain and retain influence. How many relationships have been damaged because one person took advantage of his or her position of power? How much disappointment and heartache could be avoided if people with power had the correct perspective on how it should be exercised?
The most powerful person who ever lived is Jesus Christ. He gives us the picture of the proper use of power. Although He could have commanded whatever He wanted, He chose to live a life of sacrifice and servanthood, as exemplified on the cross. In the process, He accomplished what He set out to do--to become the Savior of the world.
Because of His life, death, and resurrection, you and I can use His power for good. Now that's real power!

It is discouraging to witness so much misuse of power in our society. Some people are hurt for a moment and some for a lifetime from the effects of the misuse. In considering how Jesus used His power I thought about that He always followed those commandments He said were most important in Matthew 22:36-40: love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind and secondly love your neighbor as yourself. If each of us would use those laws to test the use of any power we exert it could make a world of difference. Jesus leads the way if only we would follow. - Janice
Janice, If we would just concider the scripture that you used we wouldnt hurt anyone, especially on purpose. It just seems like when someone get a little power it suddenly turns into a large surge. We carry the power past its limits and we try to create a monster. Truly Christ had all of the power that Heaven held and could do as he saw fit but he chose to show it thru LOVE. God Bless and have a good day - Jerry
Love, there is such a lack of it today that when we actually show our love for someone, they are shocked. But you know what, that speaks louder than any word that could be said.People are looking at us more than they are talking, what are they seeing? That is where our power is, and of course we get it from Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. - julie
